Education

While I started attending New York University during the midst of the pandemic, I've since learned so much from living and studying in the city. I'm currently double majoring in politics and sociology, and I've had the exciting opportunity to apply my writing, graphic design, and research skills across both fields and to a number of topics.

I'm a pre-law student, and I'm most passionate about constitutional law, urban planning policy, and international human rights campaigns.

I'm also a Scholar in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Program, which functions both as a honors scholarship and a cohort of social justice leaders throughout the University.

01

Politics

For the Politics major, the major courses I've taken include Urban Politics, Congress and Legislative Assemblies, Comparative Politics, Introduction to Research Methods, and Political Theory.

Through these courses, I've gained proficiency in R, and am able to review historical documents, create issue briefs, research and write policy proposals, and analyze current events with ease.

02

Sociology

For the Sociology major, the major courses I've taken include Statistics for Social Research, Youth Justice, Law and Society, Capitalism and Democracy, and Sociological Theory. In my senior year, I will be completing my undergraduate thesis via the Senior Honors Research Seminar course.

Consequently, I learned to analyze data with a critical eye, presented thorough research into potential legal reforms, and conducted thorough historical research to better understand how our current socioeconomic systems originated.

03

Elective Courses

For my elective courses, I've taken a number of multifaceted classes, including studying Spanish for two years. (I took Spanish during my k-12 education as well, for four years.) I also studied human genetics, and introductory microeconomics.

As a result, I have an intermediate level of proficiency in Spanish, have a better grasp of economic theory, and am prepared to present lab reports.

04

Martin Luther King Scholars

In my first year, I participated in a weekly seminar in which we discussed Dr. King's work and opportunities to build upon NYU's equity initiatives. I also personally organized the Scholars in support of the graduate student workers' strike that took place in spring 2021. The statement I wrote and advertised is displayed on the right.

Most recently, we traveled to Vietnam to explore its history, sights, culture, and institutions; we also studied and reflected on the effects of the Vietnam War through the lens of Dr. King's teachings.
